Ten fingers rounding three joss sticks,
"For peace and harmony",
Sincerely prayed the devotee.
"Life's all a challenge,"
The deity whined,
"You have to work your effort, for what you prayed for."
Disasters and calamities,
Broken homes and cries of war.
There came a rainbow after the storm;
An unfading peace after chaos.
Casket after casket, corpse after corpse;
Tears ran down the pinkish cheeks,
Grieving, at the price to pay.
"Why a mountain full of corpse!"
Cursed the devotee to Heaven.
Closing His eyes, He said calmly,
"All were just, the price for what you prayed for."
Never an easy life,
Never an effortless success.
The lessons that we learned today,
are what we prayed for tomorrow.
For life is never smooth sailing,
for there is no free lunch in the world.
For there is no dominance over the Earth;
deities, humans, spirits, live together.
Often, we put our palm together,
and said a little prayer through our lips.
Ever had it came to your mind,
how is this prayer going to come true?
Deities wouldn't bestowed it to you freely;
no the things you ask for wouldn't just dropped from the sky.
You have to prove yourself well;
well to entitled yourself to what you prayed for,
well to protect whatever that is bestowed to you.
Everyday a million devotees prayed for peace and harmony.
But are we, the greedy humans, entitled to enjoy this peace?
For all wars and calamities, all deaths and casualties,
are nothing but a challenge to you.
A challenge to see if you are fit to say that prayer.
A chance for you to earn what you want you said in the prayer.
Life is never the easy way out.
If whatever we prayed for, is what we asked for;
then, we have to get them through our own efforts,
and proved ourselves to be worthy to be entitled to them.
