To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace. - George Washington
hmm, does this sounds a bit weird to you?
we are actually promoting peace,
and yet, we are fighting, through a non-peaceful manner,
to keep peace.
recently the US President, Barack Obama,
got the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
and what many people find very contradicting is,
while on this side he is receiving the peace prize,
and the other hand, he is increasing his troops in the middle east.
many find this 'not a peaceful way' to settle wars.
some even find that Mr Obama don't deserve the prize at all.
what thinking of it, what Mr Obama doing is right.
he, is fighting not for wars,
but for a cause. a cause call peace.
because of this cause, he have to fight those ppl that are fighting,
so that this cause will be achieve.
以暴制暴; 以其人之道,还治其人之身。
somehow i believe Mr Obama is doing something like i mention above.
using the means that those that have caused troubles,
to end troubles. using a no-so-peaceful manner to end wars(non-peaceful),
so that he can achieve peace.
in this circumstance, e cannot totally say that he is sacrificing for peace;
he is, instead, using the ways how things started off to end things.
all along we've seen many peaceful demonstrations,
trying to end wars, conflicts, etc.
we've seen many ppl peacefully begging for peace.
but what has things become of? do those conflicts end?
my answer is no.
we have to take action- to end things that are an action.
in this case, fighting a war to end a war;
thats how things are usually like.
preparing to fight a war to keep peace,
not because one is eager for supremacy or hegemony,
but one has to fight, the same way how others invaded,
to keep something that he is fighting for,
which is also something others is fighting against.
look around. we dun have enough time and effort to talk nicely to terrorist.
we dun have negotiations with dictators.
if they are doing things in a non-peaceful manner, we use a non-peaceful way,
in order to subdue them.
this is because everything started in a non-peaceful manner,
thats why, like we uproot a tree from its roots,
we settle things non peacefully.
many thinks that during war times,
a lot of ppl are picking up arms,
and fighting the invaders.
many tried to stop this,
many talk about negotiations,
many talk about peaceful demonstrations.
but if we do these, are they going to help the situation? no.
we are fighting for peace, a cause that is worth fighting for.
to an extent, when we fight for peace,
we are sacrificing this generation's blood,
in exchange for the prosperity of the next generations that have to come.
fighting isn't something violent,
we have are fighting for something that is worth the sacrifice.
to be prepared for war,
is the best way to keep peace;
because it has always been conflicts and wars that disturbs peace.
