so i was thinking about some things in my life today.
thinking about the past honour, glory, fame,
as my aide-de-camp mentioned these during a little conversation.
i must say once more,
i don't have much to my name.
not a CCA Head, no academics, no looks, no sports, nothing.
never won a prize before,
never enjoyed fame as the top guy of something.
sometimes, it's just kinda sad in life,
when you achieved nothing.
and then, you have to live under the roofs of others;
concealing your real feelings every moment,
in which you have the fear of them being exploited,
for it'll just bring you trouble.
nevertheless, today i just found out that i still have something.
the command of 27 men.
might sound as silly as it tells;
but then, they are the only people i took pride in.
i hardly took pride in anything in life;
most of the times i end up loser in much things.
but they were the ones that i took pride in.
as the quote goes well,
"The followers reflect their leader."
the standard they give do reflect my way of mentoring.
today was another tekan day;
drills, drills, and more drills.
having to train my men into tip top standard,
just really makes me feel proud of them.
well, there's a scenario like this:
the CO members always hated me and my part;
for we always practice drills outside the classrooms they used for playing music.
and then, the timer would always time LOUDLY,
disturbing those that are trying to concentrate on playing the song.
so today the 'hateful' bunch practiced their drills outside those classrooms today.
like usual, they were marching;
but what the CO members heard and saw make them drop their jaws.
instead of the usual screaming and shouting,
all from outside was a piece of silence;
and what came pass the windows,
was a platoon marching,
with top notch SYCHRONISATION and NO TIMING.
i remember seeing one gal playing the pipa,
stoned and dropped her jaw after seeing that scene.
i really took pride in them.
subsequently my other platoon mates who came to 'visit' us,
were also amazed by the rate of improvement my men had.
they were left astonished and speechless.
i really, really, took great pride in them.
i must say the whatever the Bravo Platoon does,
reflects me and CJ.
not the Sergeant Major, not the Training Head, no one else.
just me and CJ. simple.
i remember how CO members used to mock at NCC;
for our sub-standard drills we had in the past.
but now all these were something of the PAST.
today i took pride in drilling my men;
and subsequently, i believe today and sometime later,
they will feel the same pride drilling in a victorious platoon.
at least,
out of the four years in zhonghua,
i left a legacy behind.
just a little small area where my talents shine;
i believe when the officers were choosing the 8 Heads;
they are waiting to see me screw like before,
and preparing to sack me.
wait till i create the creme de la creme platoon of the nation.
i shall see what others have to say.
