sunday morning's breeze.

'studying for the sake of studying, doing for the sake of doing.'

while i was in recluse yesterday and mugging hardly for my tests,
the above quote suddenly came across my mind.
it was something that my P6 form teacher, Mr Tay, told my class.
he said that most of us are studying for the sake of studying,
and doing our homework because we are told to do so.
studying for the sake of test, doing assignments because our teachers said so,
and then, we go for exams because we need a certificate.

then, i was thinking,
'for what i am actually studying so hard for? for the common tests?'

today, a lot of us are mugging blindly for certain reasons that seem to be weird.
we can study a subject that we hate to the core,
and score A for that subject.
maybe this is the consequence or effect of the competitive society;
for many things we do,
is for the survival in this competitive society.

many of my playful friends can even settle down and start mugging.
their reason is,
'if i don't study i will die.'

after much thought, somehow i have a different perspective about school.
now, i want studying to be fun, studying to be a cause,
a cause that is for ourselves, truly for ourselves.

studying because i have interest,
studying because i'm curious,
studying because i have the urge to pursue knowledge.
not because i need a certificate to stay alive.

i wonder if many teens will feel happier,
if they're to view things the same way as me.
